Recertifications

ABIPP Recertification Requirements

As a physician who chose to become certified through the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians (ABIPP), here are your requirements for recertification:

Diplomates who have ABMS or AOA board certification in Pain Medicine:

  • Submit proof of certification or recertification reissued since your ABIPP certification

  • Complete and submit proof of 25 AMA Category 1 continuing education credit hours per year or 250 within the 10-year period OR submit proof of completed MOC for the subspecialty of pain medicine though the certifying Board

  • Submit $1000 renewed certificate fee

Diplomates who do not have ABMS or AOA board certification in
Pain Medicine or recertification:

  • Appear for Part I examination within the last 3 years of the expiration of certification. The cost to retake the exam is $1000. Exam dates are listed on the ABIPP website.

  • Complete and submit proof of 25 CME credit hours each year for a total of 250 within the 10-year period.

  • Submit $1000 renewed certificate fee

All diplomates’ recertification requirements should be fulfilled by December 31 of the year the certification expires (10 years after issued).

For Recertification, complete the Declaration and Consent form and enclose all appropriate documentation along with fee. Documentation for recertification can be mailed or faxed to the ABIPP office at 81 Lakeview Drive, Paducah, KY 42001 or 270-554-5394.
